This is one of the various terms used to refer to those who practice chaos magic. The originator of chaos magic, and probably the best known Chaote is Peter Carroll. Other well known Chaotes include Ray Sherwin, Jaq Hawkins, saintstephen, Phil Hine, Choronzon 999 and Frater V.D..

The pronounciation of the word various from person to person. Some pronounced is Kay-Oat. Others, probably taking the discordian slant of Chao sounding like cow, pronounce it Cow-Oat. Yet more, including myself, like to pronounce it Kay-Oh-Tey. This rhyme with Coyote and leads to 'Wile Chaote'.
