Chela

The term 'chela' is used, in its original context (Indian yogic systems), to refer to a disciple and dedicated devotee of a deity and guru (/teacher). Inherent to the notion is that the disciple regards the guru as the very deity Itself, and thus serves as an object of reverence, worship, offerings, etc.
