Consecration has been called the act of making the scared and scarred sacred and special.

For example "I consecrate this Wiki and all who float in her".

An act of consecration can vary between a simple act of will to a complex ritual taking many years.

The word appears to have the same root as sacred.

"Consecration" is the traditional term for the ceremony by which a Catholic or Episcopalian bishop or bishops raises a priest to the status of bishop.
