Gold is a metal. On the Periodic Table of Elements, its symbol is 'Au', and its number is '79'.

Gold is often used in worship of the Divine. Around the world, large altars are made of gold, or at least, covered in gold foil. Gold is especially sacred to sun gods and goddesses.
Gold enhances the power of spells, and when worn, increases personal power, and thus courage and confidence. Gold is used in success spells and to get rid of male sexual impotency.
Gold attracts wealth. When worn, it brings a flow of money into the wearers' life; it is particularly useful for miners and those who invest in precious metals.
Worn habitually, gold promotes long life. It also helps with arthritis.
Traditionally, gold knives were used by the Druids to collect herbs. However, owing to the softness of the metal, it is more probable that gold-plated knives (or brass or bronze) were used instead.
