The classic Elizabethan Magus, he transcribed visions of angels received by his accomplice Edward Kelley.
Discovered/invented Enochian
He is credited with destroying the majority Spanish Armada by storm, and depicted as Prospero by Shakespeare.
Dee used an obsidian shew stone which came from the Aztecs/Mayans and rests in the British Museum, along with his conjuring table which contains the Enochian Alphabet.
Dee was unable to scry himself, which is why he had a long partnership with Kelly. Kelly did the scrying and Dee noted and interpreted the results.
John Dee, also a contemporary of Sir Francis Bacon, was credited with scripting the Monad Hieroglyph, or MONAS HIEROGLYPHICA, representing all the Knowledge in the Universe.
