Paschal Beverly Randolph
From SourceryForge
Paschal Beverly Randolph (October 8,1825-July 29,1875) was a medical doctor, occultist, and Rosicrucian.
Born in either New York or Virginia (sources differ),he was of mixed-race ancestry and spoke out for the abolition of slavery, though born free.
He was credited with founding the oldest Rosicrucian organization in the United States, the Fraternitas Rosae Crucis, though outside research is skeptical of its lineage from his work. The FRC today avoids mention of Randolph's pioneering sex magick or his advocacy of hashish to create trances.
He committed suicide aged 49.
He is considered an influence on a number of later occult groups.
