The night between 31st October and 1st November. Also known as Halloween. It is seen as the time in the year when the veil between the 2 worlds is thinnest.The New Year of Celtic religion.

Modern Gaelic pronunciation is "sowen",but this is unlikely to have been the case when it was most celebrated in Celtic religion,or the spelling standardized.

One of the four great festivals of Celtic religion along with Imbolc, Beltane,and Lughnasadh.As with the others,Christians imposed redefinitions (the others becoming St. Brigid's Day/Candlemas/Groundhog Day, May Day, and Lammas).In the year 835 Pope Gregory IV declared November 1 All Saints Day,otherwise known as All Hallows,making the night before All Hallows Eve,hence "Halloween".
