Talk:Magick Fiction
From SourceryForge
I have nearly every issue of Hellblazer, but I don't recall Grant Morrison ever writing one. Are you sure about his involvement? Madghoul 12:45, 24 Apr 2004 (BST)
What about Harry?
Does Harry Potter belong here?...what about Jonathan Strange & Mr. Norrell?--Louis E./le@put.com/12.144.5.2 01:44, 14 October 2006 (BST)
I haven'r read Jonathan Strange & Mr. Norrell, but i would say Harry Potter doesn't belong here. This is not about general fictional accounts of magick, but about those containing more than a grain of what a practicing magickian is percieving as the "truth". Or fictional books that were written by non-believers, but can actually be helpful for an aspiring practitioner of magick for some reason. Me and many others found Harry Potter way to superficial and phantastical to be any good in that department (and i did enjoy it as reading fodder for a rainy weekend). That said, if somebody comes here and claims that they are using ideas from Harry Potter in their practice, or find it helpful in any other way, i would find it very interesting to have it listed here, and have articles created about it. But i don't want it to be included for the sake of completion, because then i could list all my favourite fantasy trash with magick in it, and others may do the same, and the really helpful books dispappear in the noise. Ah well, that is a really difficult article, There is stuff i really would like to see deleted, like Mists of avalon but i'm sometimes shy about deleting other people's work
How about a rule for this article? Everybody who lists a new book should create an article about it that makes clear why they are listing it? Am i rule-crazy?
