Talk:Neopagan Festivals

This article should be moved...it treats "Pagan",which basically covers all non-monotheistic religions,as meaning specifically Celtic pagan, which is ridiculous, even if it's the largest component of current neopaganism.I suggest either "Celtic Pagan Festivals" or "Celtic Religious Festivals".I did note in the "Yule" stub that the same name (spelled differently) is known for the same occasion in Teutonic tradition as well,I don't think that applies to the others.

Not being able to move articles is the one drawback to me of not having an account...but in order to keep all my contributions on the 12.144.5.2 host and keep the 12.144.5.2 host cookie-free,I'd have to do all the account logins on another computer and do only administrative stuff and not contributions when logged in.--Louis E./le@put.com/12.144.5.2 20:03, 17 October 2006 (BST)

I would sugest Neopagan festivals as new title. Most scholars are quite sure that no celtic culture actually celebrated all 8 festivals. Some, like Ostara, are probably not authentic at all. Especially the solstices and equinoxes were more revered in Germanic culture than in Celtic. They were also celebrated to some extend in greek and roman paganism, but had different meanings. Of course not all neopagans celebrate these festivals, as far as i know they were introduced into modern practice by Wicca, and are now celebrated by many witches inspired by this tradition. Explaining this in the article is probably more important than nitpicking about article names, so i would suggest move this one to Neopagan festivals, make clear in it that it's about the festivals as celebrated in modern Wicca tradition, and maybe put into pagan festivals a more general essay about festivals and their relationship to certain times of the year (if somebody wants to write it, of course).
