The Golden Bough
From SourceryForge
The Golden Bough:A Study in Magic and Religion is a massive work by Sir James George Frazer (1854-1941),first published in two volumes in 1890,then in three volumes in 1900,and then in twelve volumes in 1906-15;a single-volume abridgement first published in 1922 is the easiest to obtain today (including online) but lacks a great deal of his work discrediting Christianity.
The work compares the world's religions through history from a cultural rather than theological standpoint.
