A wand is a common item either viewed as imbued with magical power in its own right or used as a tool to exercise its wielder's power.
They are most frequently made of wood and the material used is generally regarded with significance.The wand is held in the wielder's hand.
Some distinguish more firmly than others between the small,easily lifted wand and the stouter,longer staff usable as an aid to walking,and perhaps a repository of stored spells rather than a conduit for their exercise.The Wands suit of Tarot cards typically depicts staves rather than wands at least in the Rider Waite Deck.
